If you’re searching for Dental Crowns replaced in Dublin, our experienced team offers you a convenient, reliable, and pain-free solution.

Why Might You Need a Dental Crown Replaced?

Even though dental crowns are designed to be durable, they don’t last forever. Most crowns last between 10 to 15 years with proper care, but certain factors can speed up their wear and tear.

Here are common signs you may need a dental crown replacement:

  • Cracks or fractures in the crown
  • Persistent discomfort or sensitivity
  • Visible wear and tear
  • Gum recession exposing the crown edge
  • Loose or dislodged crown
  • Unpleasant odour or taste due to trapped bacteria

Ignoring these symptoms could lead to more complex dental problems. Replacing your crown at the right time can protect the underlying tooth and preserve your oral health.

When to seek help?

Loose crown

If you can sense that the existing crown you have is loose, book an appointment as soon as possible. An unsteady dental crown can allow bacterial from food to enter the space between the crown and the gum, creating gum infection.

Unpleasant smell

If you have a dental crown but can sense a foul odour coming from the crown, this can mean that bacteria has entered the space between the restoration and the gum. Left untreated, this can cause gum infection and even gum recession.

Lost/broken crown

If you have lost or broken your crown, do not postpone your dentist appointment. Lack of proper cleaning or the area and the additional pressure to the gums resulting from the lacking crown can cause additional dental issues.

Letters From Our Patients in Dublin

My wife & I were patients of Barry & Geraldine at this practice for many years & we were concerned that they had decided to retire (despite the fact that we are retired ourselves). Having said that, we were delighted to discover that they left us literally in the very capable hands of Patrick & without exception all of his wonderful team. We cannot praise them enough for the highly professional, confident & caring approach to dentistry. Good luck with your new practice Patrick & see you soon. Gerry & Ailish

I recently had two separate treatments in Merrion Square Dental. First was a very tricky filling in a back tooth which was causing pain, this was completed with excellent results. Following that, I had crown work done on a few teeth that were no longer looking too good, and I am absolutely delighted with the results which are completely natural and discreet looking. I was very well taken care of from start to finish, which included follow on after care appointments. I would highly recommend Patrick and the team for their care and professionalism

Left a message looking for an appointment for a tooth extraction but wasn't expecting to get seen to as quickly as I did! Paddy rang and gave me an appointment for 6.45pm that evening. He examined the tooth and suggested because of the symptoms it might be a filling was too high and grinding of the teeth was causing the pain. He said he could file and polish the tooth and see would that improve the matter before having to remove it. I was happy to agree and he worked away, making sure I was comfortable while he was doing so. He told me to contact the surgery if the pain didn't go away and the receptionist said she would ring me on Friday to check how it was. All good so far, fingers crossed! Great service!
