Dental bonding & white fillings in Dublin
Are you looking to enhance your smile quickly, affordably, and without invasive procedures? At Merrion Square Dental, we specialise in dental bonding & white fillings in Dublin, providing patients with natural-looking results for chipped, broken, discoloured, or gapped teeth.
Whether you want to repair a chipped tooth or embark on a complete smile makeover, composite bonding is a popular cosmetic dental solution that offers immediate, impressive results.
What Is Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure that involves applying a tooth-coloured composite resin to the surface of your teeth to enhance their appearance. It’s ideal for correcting minor imperfections, reshaping teeth, and closing small gaps. The resin is carefully moulded and polished to match the surrounding teeth, ensuring a seamless, natural finish.
This treatment is minimally invasive often requiring no drilling or anaesthesia—and can usually be completed in just one visit.
White Fillings vs Traditional Fillings
White fillings, also known as composite fillings, are made from a tooth-coloured material designed to blend in with your natural teeth. Unlike traditional silver amalgam fillings, white fillings offer aesthetic benefits and are often used in both front and back teeth for an invisible restoration.
They not only restore function but also maintain your smile’s uniform appearance, making them a great choice for those prioritising cosmetic appeal.

Common Uses of Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a versatile treatment option that can address a range of cosmetic and minor structural concerns:
1. Cosmetic Bonding for a Chipped Tooth
Small chips in the enamel, whether from an accident or everyday wear—can make your smile look uneven. Cosmetic bonding for a chipped tooth restores the natural shape and prevents further damage.
2. Dental Bonding for a Broken Tooth
When a tooth is partially broken but the root remains intact, bonding can effectively rebuild the missing portion. Dental bonding for a broken tooth can often avoid the need for more extensive treatments like crowns.
3. Dental Bonding for Tooth Discolouration
If stubborn stains are resistant to whitening, dental bonding for tooth discolouration can cover the affected areas and instantly improve your smile.
4. Smile Makeover with Composite Bonding
A smile makeover with composite bonding is ideal if you want a fuller transformation. By applying bonding across multiple teeth, we can enhance your smile’s symmetry, shape, and brightness—all without invasive procedures.
5. Closing a Gap with Composite Bonding
Have a small gap between your teeth you’d like to eliminate? Closing a gap with composite bonding is a fast and conservative way to achieve that perfect alignment—no braces required.
6. Bonding to Reduce the Sensitivity of Teeth
In some cases, bonding to reduce the sensitivity of teeth can help cover exposed root surfaces or worn enamel, reducing discomfort from hot or cold foods and drinks.
The Dental Bonding Process
Here’s what you can expect during your dental bonding appointment at Merrion Square Dental
- Consultation – We assess your teeth and discuss your goals to determine if bonding is suitable for you.
- Tooth Preparation – The surface of the tooth is gently etched and coated with a conditioning liquid to help the resin adhere.
- Application – The composite resin is applied, sculpted into the desired shape, and hardened with a curing light.
- Polishing – The bonded tooth is trimmed and polished until it matches the shine and shape of your natural teeth.Con
This entire process usually takes between 30 to 60 minutes per tooth and is typically completed in a single visit.
Benefits of Dental Bonding & White Fillings
- Minimally Invasive – No drilling, no injections in most cases
- Immediate Results – Walk out with a brand-new smile
- Cost-Effective – Less expensive than veneers or crowns
- Natural Aesthetics – Colour-matched to your surrounding teeth

Letters From Our Patients in Dublin
My wife & I were patients of Barry & Geraldine at this practice for many years & we were concerned that they had decided to retire (despite the fact that we are retired ourselves). Having said that, we were delighted to discover that they left us literally in the very capable hands of Patrick & without exception all of his wonderful team. We cannot praise them enough for the highly professional, confident & caring approach to dentistry.
Good luck with your new practice Patrick & see you soon. Gerry & Ailish

I recently had two separate treatments in Merrion Square Dental. First was a very tricky filling in a back tooth which was causing pain, this was completed with excellent results. Following that, I had crown work done on a few teeth that were no longer looking too good, and I am absolutely delighted with the results which are completely natural and discreet looking. I was very well taken care of from start to finish, which included follow on after care appointments. I would highly recommend Patrick and the team for their care and professionalism

Left a message looking for an appointment for a tooth extraction but wasn't expecting to get seen to as quickly as I did! Paddy rang and gave me an appointment for 6.45pm that evening. He examined the tooth and suggested because of the symptoms it might be a filling was too high and grinding of the teeth was causing the pain. He said he could file and polish the tooth and see would that improve the matter before having to remove it. I was happy to agree and he worked away, making sure I was comfortable while he was doing so. He told me to contact the surgery if the pain didn't go away and the receptionist said she would ring me on Friday to check how it was. All good so far, fingers crossed! Great service!
